This is the conclusion of the Orcs of Stonefang Pass. Jump to Part I.
What started a typical sub-quest to recover two artifacts took a turn for the fantastic when An Unexpected Guest arrived.
After resting briefly (and setting up a communications relay to allow them to communicate with Charles Forsite – whom they neglect to inform about Shute’s secret) they party heads back into the pass with all of the Stonefang fragments.
The localized earthquakes increase in frequency – time is very short… As they run down the windy staircase, it is starting to crumble from all the seismic activity…
They arrive, and the battle is already underway – the Shadowed Chain Dwarves have engaged some Earth Elementals, apparently summoned by Stonefang to protect his eminent return…
But the dwarves are quickly losing ground as the Earth Titan: Stonefang emerges from his now open prison!
His bulk destroys everything in his path, including the summoning table…
Initially, the Irregulars find it very difficut to even scratch the titan.
But Florynsael has a card up her sleeve – Skull from The Deck of Many things! (See their previous adventure: The Scions of Punjar for more details…)
And using The Skull, she temporarily stuns the titan – a first signal that there may be hope.
Allowing the dwarves to work beat on the elementals…
and for the Irregulars to place the fragments on Stonefang back in their warding circles.
With the placement of the final piece, and the defeat of his elemental guards, the surviving Shadow Chain dwarves and the party can focus on getting Stonefang back into his pit-prison.
Stonefang is unable to resist the power of the wards, and is dragged back into the abyss!
With Stonefang once again imprisoned, the Forsite Irregulars may continue their journey to Winterhaven, the next stop on their way to find more cards from the Deck of Many Things at Gardmore Abbey.
But first, there is A Short Interlude on the way down the mountains into the Nentir Vale.

Howdy, I am thoroughly enjoying your write-ups and seeing your use of miniatures and terrain. I hope my players never see this as they will wonder why I don’t try harder! :) Nice work. Thanks for sharing it with the rest of us.
Thanks ScrivenerofDoom – Wait till you see the next few posts! :-)
